stepper motor interfaced with 89c51
hi John,
I can't quite reach the datasheets of this motor, but I guess it's like any other center tapped 6 wire stepper motor.
Mainly this motor is made of 2 individual coils, for each coil you'll have 2 ends and one wire attached to the middle of the coil, thats what makes it capable of performing many modes of operation according to ones needs.
To check if I'm correct you may simply use an avometer and measure the resistance between different pairs of wires.
If I'm correct then you should find that from one of the red wires to 2 of the other colored it gives you some resistance, while the other 2 wires will give you an open circuit, check for the other red wire and you will find that it has a resistance value to the 2 remaining colors.
To check for the sequence I guess you will have to do it by experiment.
1-Just wire both reds to +3V ( just to keep the current dissipation low) and all the other wires floating.
2- connect one of the colored to the ground (it should start moving)
3- unplug that wired and switch another to the ground, if the motor moves right then it's ok , if not then try another wire , untill you get a full rotation.
check google for more info, you might just find a page mentioning something about the sequence of colors you should follow.
Regards,
Salam.
