Do these modules need separate power supplies for gate circuits? For example this one,

has four separate supply inputs for gate drive. Is this a must or only put to allow different usages? Shortly can this IPM work only with a single gate supply?
 

Nope... it needs separate power supplies for each upper drivers (it's clearly mentioned in the datasheet)
 

Its not as intelligent as it says then
 

Ha Ha... may be it's intelligent because it provides over current and over voltage protection. And, we still need to monitor both signals.
