Hello All,

I know this question has already been **broken link removed**. However, I am not sure it really solved the issue. Here is the message:
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
/home/vg/c/install/bin.lnx86/softload: line 1412:
Could not extract information from FS.0 of CD#1.
Could not get platform or release information: command not found

"Must" proposed to install some libraries for backward compatibility issues. Did anyone try it?

I tried to set the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL variable. Unsuccessful. But i think I need to use it only when installation process has been completed.

"tlihu" told us he installed Cadence on RH9.0 after modifying and recompiling some C files:
I have successfully installed Cadence IC5032 on RH9 and it runs pretty well so far.

However, during installation, I had to modify and recompile (gcc) some programs under install/bin.lnx86 (something like that). After that, the installation proceeded smoothly.
Two programs must be modified and then recompiled: io_filt.c and cdsudp.c.

What are the modifications? Any suggestions?

thanks for your help and time!

Seb

i don't think Cadence IC 5.0 can be installed on Redhat 9.0 because "tar" programme isn't compatible.

you may try Redhat 7.3. It is OK for IC5.0.

Hi

You mention that you have cadence running on Redhat 7.3 machine. I am having the following problem with RH7.3
The Redhat install is straight out of the box install. Only ssh has been upgraded to the latest version.
Cadence starts up and shows the splash screen. Then the icw window opens and the program hangs. The CDS.log file has no information. Any ideas on what might be causing this. Do I have to downgrade to 7.2 and try to install it ?

Thanks

I finally installed it from a SUN workstation where I mounted a Redhat hard drive.
And, it worked.

S.

i istalled cadence IC 5.0.33 on RH 8 and 9 with no problems

and how you done that ? huh ?

I'm get same problem when install in RED HAT 9.0 but when I try with 8.0, it is ok.
I think tar is different both of them.

hello try to downgrade the tar by older rtar rpm i think this works with me when installing on suse10 "tar-1.13.25-12.i386.rpm"

RH 7.2 is the best OS for IC 50. I suggest you use RH 7.2.

Sir,

Even i have the same problem while installing SOC. PLZ help.

You are on lnx86 platform
InstallScape version
for platform lnx86
is available on this CD.

Do you want to install InstallScape for lnx86[y/n]:y

It is recommended that you install InstallScape
outside the Cadence installation hierarchy
and include the ~iscape/bin in your PATH environment variable.

Type the path to InstallScape installation directory [ (q to quit)]: /cad/is

InstallScape installation directory: /cad/is

You must have write permissions to /cad/is
There must be atleast 80 MB of disk space available in

I was installing this as a Root and I have trieved downgrading the tar, that also resulted in same error.
Tried with fedora 7, 8, Ubuntu 9, Mandriva 2009, and slackwire. Nothing could actually solved this.

Thank & regards
Lohi
