If you have cable insertion loss 10dB, platform insertion loss 10dB, what is the total insertion loss?

10 + 10 = 20dB ?

but what is platform insertion loss btw?

Insertion loss refers to any device INSERTED between source and load. If you insert a cable with IL=10 dB, so you will see10 db less at the load. If you add another device, cable or "platform", the load gets less power by the IL(s). If you cascade the lossy devices, you sum up their insertion losses.

Yeah. thanks for the tute.

So what is a platform then, in this context ? Is it a device ? Is it a typo ?
