Hi guys,

Is there any communication protocol for 1Mhz or greater (IR LED) ?

Does the frequency effect the range of communication ? (i.e the greater the freqcuency the less range or the opposite)

tnx very much!

Hi,

Look for IRDA.

This is a standard protocol for IR communication.

Maybe you can modify it for your needs.

Hope this helps.

There exist 4 classes of IRDA intended for short range. (1m) The speed or distance is limited due to the power received in 1 bit by the photo receiver.

https://www.digikey.com/product-sea...ucers/irda-transceiver-modules/1966896?k=irda

The limits apply to standards, but you can always go slower.

SIR = 115kbps
MIR = 1.152 Mbps
FIR = 4Mbps
VFIR = 16Mbps
enhanced distance to a few m may be possible with VFIR 2Mbps using carrier modulation of ?8MHz carrier.

These must be treated as Class 1 lasers and the optical epoxy melts easier than most IC's so you must learn how to hand solder in < 2sec with flux and expert technique.
