2,4 ghz yagi

hi folks, i need some theory about yagi design for ism band 2,4 ghz (pdf, links, whatever).
Please don´t send any links to home made yagis I don´t mean to copy someone elses antenna i mean to design my own. :!:
Thanks a lot.

This will help you

best

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

chinaing
is there an english version of 21rf ?
if there is one, could you please send it over?

thanks.....

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

hi,
you may find something useful in ham radio web pages.
For that frequency you can study DL6WU design (he is a radioamateur),
which also used for other bands.
If you plan to use a Yagi for wireless application this design could be fine: it gives a good gain performance.

PS. A little source code for this is attached

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

for general yagi design search the internet for:

ARRL - Antenna Handbook
ARRL - UHF/Microwave Experimenter's Manual

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

hi,pls tell me are u design on substrate if yes tell me ur sub details,if u design by tubes wires u can simulate ur antenna using IE3D pacage that i think it very accurae and easy in simulation of 3D wiring antenna
regards

Nice antenna !!

thanks for answering, i trying to design a wire antenna, and yes i also think IE3D is the right soft to simulate my problem is lack of good theory.
So if you have any info or suggestions, i´m happy to hear.

thanks, Nico.-

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

about hf2050´s link, yes it is pretty cool... but the radiating element seams to be a folded dipole (Z=300, isn´t it ?).
And they feed it with the 50 ohm coaxial line  . Can anybody explain why is this working??
thanks.

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

hi here example using ie3d

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

hi using some directors with folded dipole drop it from 300 to 75 ohmsthat i think

Because of the mutual coupling between elements, the input impedance of the driven element is much lower than in free space. The folded dipole gets it back up in value for a very low economic and mechanical complexity cost.

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

hi,
don't forget to use a balun (balanced - unbalanced) for the feed.
Impedence matching is not the only thing to think to.

Conversion from balanced loads to unbalanced lines
(or vice versa) can be performed with no
impedance transformation.

thanks for the example, but it doesn´t seem to work  . Sends high warning when trying to simulate....

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

hi,i use IE3D 10 ,what is ur version, pls reply to me that i may help

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

Hi, indiaco!

OK, why just the yagi?
This kind of antennas is very sensitive to size of elements and also the balun is quite problematic..
Without measuring at least reflection coefficient I'm skeptic about success..
If not other restriction, parabola is a very good choice.
Look at attachment, this offset is used from satellite and only the feeding horn is built. The Gain is ~21dBi on the WiFi band
Robust, stable, easy to build

Good Luck!

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

**

with yagi antennas no many problems wih the wind !!

with parabol much catch to the wind

Best

FFFFFF

Re: 2,4 ghz yagi

hi eirp, i thought of a yagi cause i want to get about 12-15 dbi gain.
Low cost, easy to build/set antenna...
but you may by right about the feeding difficulties
I´ll try with another antenna.... thanks anyway.
