inductor testing

hi............ can u tel me........how to test an inductor for a particular current or how to know whether a particular inductor is able to take a particular current without damage???????

Re: inductor testing

Hi,

The wire gauge should indicate the maximum current that can pass.

Re: inductor testing

There is also the core saturation if it is not air. Your best bet is to look at the data sheet unless this inductor is home made. The real proof of the pudding is the heating of the coil in your circuit.
