now i'm trying to implement software uart on my atmega 8 development board for that i'm taking reference of iar generic c code . but i'm not able to understand how to set value of timer. according to application note timer should be set to 3 times baudrate . but i'm not able to interpret it properly . can anyone explain me by giving simple example

Which compiler are you using? Your compiler may have library functions for software UART. Which application note are you referring to?

i'm using winavr compiler & i reffered iar generic c code for software uart application note . i wanted to develop my own software uart code and i dont want to use inbuilt library function will you please provide me any guideline about that
