I'm being freelancer now thus I wanna find a project to to. Just FREE, no MONEY. I just wanna tranning myself. Do you have any suggest?

Make a high resolution Time-to-Digital-Converter using only the fpga. It's fun and you'll learn a lot about the fpga architecture as well.

Just google on "tdc fpga implementation" and you'll find several recent papers on the matter.
