Hi,
I am a bit confused as to how the ICSP circuit functions.
Like I read on a few websites where the working of the 6 pins and its connections are explained.
But I want to program the PIC finally from the USB port of my laptop
and i am using ICSP so that I don't need to remove the micro controller out of the circuit for loading the program
But I am confused how the ICSP is supposed to be inferfaced with the USB pins.
ICProg is the Software used to program a Pic or other chip, it is not the hardware which can be one of several diy designs, all of which can, if you are handy and lucky work ok or leave you with hours of frustration as others in this forum have found.
ICProg is also very limiting in the number of Pics it can program, most are quiet old chips.
Would really suggest if you intend to do anything with Pics to get yourself a Pickit2 or preferably the newer Pickit3 programmer /debuggers, money well spent.
While you can run ICSP with any programmer be aware that it must have proper access to those two programming lines PGC and PGD; some other in circuit hardware may be able to share those same lines but there are limitations of what can and cannot be connected at the same time.
