IC Packaging Engineer? Is it a good career path?

Hello,

I am a master graduate and currently I received a job offer as an IC packaging engineer. I have interest in semiconductor industry but I am not very familiar with IC packaging. Is it a good career path? Is it quite limited to several companies in the future? Are there a lot of chances in this field? How about the salary as an IC packaging engineer?
