An image is 1024 x 768 pixcels with 3bits/pixcels.Assume the image is uncompressed .How long does it take to transmit it over a 56 kps modem channel .
i) over a 1 megabits cable modem
ii) over a 10 megabits/sec ethernet

Total Pixels you have = 1024*768 = 786432
Total bits for this image = 786432 * 3 = 2359296
Time to transmit 2359296 bits over 56kbps = 2359296/56k ~= 42 sec
Time to transmit 2359296 bits over 1mbps = 2359296/1m ~= 2.3 sec
Time to transmit 2359296 bits over 1mbps = 2359296/1m ~= 0.23 sec

Note:
Assuming the channel is dedicated to download only
Assuming 1k = 1000
 

Actually times are biger and that is because there are no considerations of protocols, the heading and the tail added to the string, 2359296 bits, and the marks to signal or separate the lines.
