the rs485 interface is elementary, you put an 75176 or max485 in your circuit and interface is made.
Simply connect pin 8 at +V pin 4 at negative
pin 1 at your micro serial input and pin 4 at your micro serial output.
Pin 2 and 3 are connect together, tired to negativa in rx mode or to +5V in tx mode

you can also enable Rx always, Tx only when you TX.
You stop TX when you receive your TX echo.
With this you close the TX at a good time.

RS 485 can be converted to rs232 by using 96176 485 transeciver and using Max232.
