Hi,
This scope appears to start up OK: the timebase is working and a horizontal trace appears which responds to the up/down and L/R controls. However after a few seconds the trace vanishes.
Further investigation reveals that the trace is stable for maybe 5 or 10 seconds, then over a few seconds it loses focus and becomes substantially brighter before disappearing suddenly. No interesting burning smells, crackly noises, etc.
Switching off and immediately on again doesn't help, but leaving it for a minute or so and then switching on brings it back to life - for a few seconds. Any ideas about what is wrong would be appreciated.
This scope was working fine about 18 months ago, and the behaviour described above has commenced as soon as it was brought out of storage. I wonder if something as simple as a failed electrolytic is the problem - but if so, where?
