how works high frequency transformers in smps

as transformer works as step down or step up. it works only ac volteg... but my point is how it step down or up volteg in smps because, in smps is based ondc to dc convertion.
in short my confusion:???: is how transformer work with dc to dc convertion.

I think you are confused by : why when the current of transformer is DC it works ( such as SMPS ) ? right ? or no ? if no , tell me , what is your problem on them exactly ?

Transformers always use AC. A DC-DC converter turns DC into AC then back into DC.

A SMPS turns low frequency AC into DC. Then it turns the DC into high frequency AC, then back to DC again.
