Hello,

I am new to HFSS and am trying to simulate a surface coil with overlapping parts. Is there a way to unite objects that overlap but without actually uniting the parts that overlap? I've attached the a screen shot of the image of the coil. Its just a simple 2-d coil and I want to see the magnetic field produced by it.

HFSS Question

Yes you can do this in HFSS. In HFSS they do this with "Object Lists" This will create a new list object in the 3m modeler history window and when selected will select all the objects associated with it. To do this, 1) select all the objects to be linked 2) Go to Modeler -> List -> Create Object List.

This will create a new list object under the Lists icon in the modeler
