The pulse width is smaller than 1/2*T of clock1.

Re: How to transfer a pulse from clock1 domain to clock2 dom

Hi,

There are some app. notes over the net:

h**p://www.cadence.com/whitepapers/cdc_wp.pdf

h**p://www.edn.com/contents/images/310388.pdf

or search for "clock domain crossing"

Replace * by t

Re: How to transfer a pulse from clock1 domain to clock2 dom

the problem is that the width of the pulse to be transfered is much smaller than 1/2 *T

Re: How to transfer a pulse from clock1 domain to clock2 dom

In comparison, which clock domain is faster and how much? You said the pulse is shorter than 1/2 T of domain clock1. if the pulse crosses clock domains from clock1 to clock2 then the clock1 frequency is not the limiting one, but clock2. If clock2 is 4 or more times faster you have no problems sampling the pulse value into clock2-driven dffs, using 2-dff synchronizers. If clock2 is not 4 or more times faster you have a problem.
