How to test a Bidirectional Transil diode or (TVS) diode ?

Look above, previous post, part of datasheet, lowest row............( for example)

P6SMB12A component marking / type >> 12A unipolar means for DC (like zenerdiode) >> 12C bipolar for AC (like varistor, etc)

VBR at IT min & max. these are breakdown voltages when current IT is 1mA, The different values ​​indicate the manufacturing tolerances

This VBR is the value you should find when measuring voltage across component and when current value is IT through RL and test component
Supply voltage must be high enough to generate the current IT in test circuit. ( You can calculate values same way as zener and resistor in series )

For reading VBR you can use voltmeter or oscilloscope
 

For this very same part " P6SMB12A " , the output should be remain same i.e. between the minimum & maximum values (11.4 V to 12.6 V) while we changing the Input voltage supply whether AC or DC . Am i right ?

And, what range of input variable supply voltage should be provided to the TransZorb ?

These are same components..........
and datasheet says......
Polarity: For uni-directional types the color band
denotes cathode end, no marking on bi-directional
types

but what should be the measuring voltage for a good uni-directional TransZorb ?

And, what should be the measuring voltage for a good bi-directional TransZorb ?
 
The power dissipation across TransZorb = VBR * 1mA
The power dissipation across RL = 10V * 1mA
The power dissipation RL + TransZorb = (VBR + 10) * 1mA
 
The power dissipation across TransZorb = VBR * 1mA
The power dissipation across RL = 10V * 1mA
The power dissipation RL + TransZorb = (VBR + 10) * 1mA
