HOw to set baudrate of my GSM modem

help me...
i am uisng sim300 with my GSM modem ,,i want chandge the baudrate of gsm modem from 115000 to 9600,,so i m using following commands,,

AT
OK
AT+IPR=9600
OK
AT&W (after entering this command the gsm modem is not responding...so plz give me a solution to change the baudrate)

first establish 115200 in hyperterminal ,8,none,1 connection

i am sending "AT" to gsm modem SIM300 using arduino, but it respond with "-1", what that means. please reply me.
