dear friends i want to detect the AC voltage 230V(India) from the genset output using a mcrocontroller LPC2368. can anybody help me.... how to do it?

thanks in advance

Use a HV rectifier bridge, resitor(s) and an optocoupler, similar to the attached example ..

i am using a step down transformer -> a 5v converter->voltage divider which is giving 2.5 v and later considering it as a logic1.is this procedure correct

thanks

Use a step down transformer & bridge rectifier to convert it to dc voltage,
then adjust to output of the potentiometer to about say, 4 volts DC for 230 volts AC.
This way the output of the potentiometer will vary along with the generator voltage.
You can easily connect an ADC to measure the output of the potentiometer.
example:
AC voltage = potentiometer output x 230 / 4

right now i use it sch for over load & short ckt , 1 volt for 100% ,2 volt for 200%
i am right ? or wrong
