How to select Piezoelectric Sounders

Piezo beepers work on just a few volts. Current a few mA or tens of mA. The Murata data sheet states up to 15V generally.

Suitable frequency is 1-6 kHz. A simple pulsed DC or AC oscillator is sufficient. Square waves are okay. A 555 timer IC generates the right kind of pulse train.
The data sheet has these basic schematics:

* classic astable made from 2 transistors

* 2 logic gates, 1 capacitor, 1 resistor
 

The graphs show that the piezo transducer is loud only at certain frequencies and when at a distance of only 10cm (4 inches) from your ear.
