In LCD screens, every small part of the hardware is needed to be working correctly. If it starts giving a problem, it costs a lot. My monitor, ViewSonic XG2703-GS has a backlight problem, the screen works on dim light and brightness. This problem is due to the inverter is damaged. I need to replace the inverter at home instead of paying service charges to anyone.

I want to know how to replace it.

Hi,

what do you need to know?
* What tools (like screwdriver) you need?
* How to open screws?
* How to locate the inverter?
* How to use a soldering iron?
* ???

Please explain.

Klaus

Usually there are several inverters but I have no experience of that particular model.
If one of the inverters has died you get a dark band across the picture, if it has all gone dim it is more likely to be the power supply shared between all the inverters.

I doubt any service organizations would touch your monitor. They'd just tell you
to buy a new one.

As betwixt has mentioned, your problem most likely is in the power supply.

Some of the tools you going to need:
* A 40 watt soldering iron or better
* Solder
* Desoldering braid
* A digital multimeter
* Screw drivers - Philips and perhaps a flat blade

Non-essential tools:
* An ESR Meter
* An Oscilloscope
* A Capacitance Meter

Other Forum members may suggest further tools.
