I am new to the STC micro and trying to read a STC15W404 microcontroller Can anyone guide me the correct software and way to do this? As per information found on the internet, it is communicating with TX-RX pins but i am not sure weather it will work with a USB uART module. I have downloaded the STC-ISP software and connected the USB-uart module to the said pins but the chip is not responding in anyway. Am i missing something?
The datasheet explains the ISP principle.
Did you read and follow it?
Especially
* wiring according given schematic?
* serial communication setup?
* "cold reset" and timing?
Yes..i have also tried the below mentioned:
TX pin from CP2102 converter connected to the cathode of 1N4148 diode and anode of the same connected to the RX pin of the Microcontroller
RX pin from CP2102 converter connected to a 330E resistor and other end of the same connected to the TX pin of the Microcontroller
While kept the software "read MCU" mode and then power "ON" applied to the Target (cold reset)
Tried swapping the TX-RX pins too just be sure i am not connecting wrong way.
Any of the above cases, the target doesn't seem to communicate anything
Again my question:
Did you follow the "cold reset and timing" recommendation?

Follow the signal with a scope from PC to the STC step by step. Does it arrive with correct polarity and correct signal level at the correct pin?
If so, then do the same in the opposite direction: Signals from STC to PC.
Yes..Thanks a lot. It started responding. The "Check MCU" reads all parameters and hardware settings. My next requirement is about how to read the hex files inside? Because i couldnt find any option in the STC-ISP tool 6.8v i am using. Or is it so that the chip is only programmable but not readable?
