how to measure ac 230v volt in microcontroller

i want to measure ac line voltage through pic micro controller adc pin, what circuit can i use to measure ac in micro controllers is there any ic available. if i convert to dc it is not leaner

hello,

you can use a transfo 230V/9V or 6V to have galvanique insulation.. more safe !
i did some test for direct sinusoidal measurement, without rectifier
and measure peak to peak value..

it could be done with using voltage divider which is not that much safe
 

As stated by paulfjujo you should use a transformer.
You can then use a simple bridge rectifier and then a voltage divider.
This will provide you with a safe voltage source to measure on.
