how to know comm and lpt port

Hi all,

I want to make a program with visual basic 6.0 to know how many parallel port and serial port are available in my computer.
Please help me, is there API to get that information.

yes there are some API's ..i've used them..
One more simpler method is to use MSCOMM control....and then invoke the proper method....

really? Can you give some examples of the code? It's okay if you have the C++ or C file. Thanks, i have been looking for some days and didn't find anything yet.
