How to go about testing VGA?

Hello Sir/Madam

i want to test Mother board ( P4 ) VGA control signals i.e. Hsync, Vsync, R,G,B and I2C signals. I was successful to test R,G,B, Hsync ,Vsync but could not I2C bus.How should i do it.What data format BIOS is used to talk with Monitor.What is the use of I2C lines in the VGA monitor.
How should i test.Please help me.
