i'm a student and i'm finishing my final paper about
design logarithmic spiral antenna for GPR.
I red an article about spiral, they said that they used matlab to design spiral antenna and import it to ie3d.
can somebody help me how to import matlab to ie3d?? i tried to found it but i can't.
and how to measure radiation pattern & impedance in ie3d??
i want to ask too, can hfss ansoft measure impedance & radiation pattern of logarithmic spiral antenna??
thank you............
hi
You must design the spiral antenna with matlab you will obtain the point coordonates of the spiral (x, y, z). You should transform this matrix of points in 4 columns: x columns, ycolumn z column and the last one put a column of 0.
save the points in .txt file.
In ie3d with a right click u will have a menu click in"create and edit vertices" then "import" and download your .txt file click ok and you will have your design
good luck

If the antenna is planar why use a full 3D simulator?
Then all that memory on your computer will go toward meshing the antenna, not it's surrounding air.
Essentially turning a "Volume" formulation to a "Surface" formulation. Some structures do not lend themselves to this, but planar antennae do.
