how to digital photo frame

I would like to get knowledge about digital photo frame..
which controller is best suitable for this project?
if anyone one had did it before please let me know some basic information about it.

and for photo frame we can use micro controller as well..
and if you dont like the idea you can also use an old type of laptop/notebook etc with no xtra effort and controllers....
