Hi Memebers,
Please who can tell me how to determine the consumed power using the Cadence Analog design platform (Vituoso and Eldo...) ?
Thanks for your help.

Hi safwat,
I'm sorry I ment Consumed power.

Added after 2 minutes:

CAD tools for digital design such as design compiler can provide this information. I don't know how to get this information with Virtuoso and/or Eldo.

Re: Cadence

SA,
power=Vdd*I
so u do transient analysis (for dynamic circuits) and plot the current "I" coming from the supply and calculate the average current then P=Vdd*Iaverage

note for DC circuits P=Vdd*I , where I is the DC current.

BTW cadence platform is virtuoso plus spectre , but this method is the same whether u r using eldo or spectre

Thanks a lot Safwat,
The problem is that the transient analysis give me complex curves of current and I dont Know how to calculate the average value.

Cadence

clip the current wave form to have an integer number of ur frequency then use the window obtained to calculate the average current.
note the calculator in ADE have both clipping and integration

Re: Cadence

Do we have to use the average, the int or integ function ?

Please provide me with the compelete details of your problem.

Hi again, AdvaRes,
use the average function in this case!
Cheers, erikl
