I am working on a collinear printed antenna. The input impedance is about 80+j10. I need to design a matching network to lower the VSWR. BUT how to design it. Can you give me some examples or references?

And what is about the bandwidth you need.

Re: How to design a microstrip matching network for antenna?

What antenna? discrete or distributed matching network? bandwidht?

Re: How to design a microstrip matching network for antenna?

I think you can check out the books:
Microwave engineering by Pozar and
Antenna theory 3rd edition by Balanis

Kenneth

The bandwidth is about 20MHz. The operating frequency is about 2GHz. I need a matching network made on a substrate, not of lumped elements, but of maybe quarter-wave transformers and tuners.

What kind of substrate? Epsilon-r? Dielectric thickness? Conductor thickness?

Did you put it above GND plane? If so try to change the distance
or else change the width of input line.

The dielectric constant is 2.65.

Re: How to design a microstrip matching network for antenna?

What kind of feeding has the antenna? Can you post a photo? anyway it can be a quarter-wave transformer (bandwidth is small).

The feed is an SMA connector. It is a printed collinear antenna.

Re: How to design a microstrip matching network for antenna?

Do you want a transformer on the same substrate or do you want to make it before the SMA connector? It is important to know (as plasma says) about the ground surface.

I want a transformer on the same substrate

You can look the idea of matching devices (if there is a grond on a substrate) in these articles

Anywave a good matching device can be done only in RF Simulation programm (HFSS, CST Microwave Studio)
