define consumption

Hi there,

As i know, current consumption is the current that was dissipated at the output port which is always link to power consumption of the circuit. However, i still find myself would confuse what is current consumption when doing circuit analysis. Hope anyone can kindly explain the following question to strengthen my knowledge about current consumption.

1. What is the defination of current consumption?
2. Does current consumption is constant all the time?
3. Does current consumption is Icons = Vout/Req only?
4. How can i model the equation for current consumption?
5. What is the importance of knowing/checking current consumption?

Thank you very much.
