[SOLVED] How to connect these 2 wires?

I bought a kit so these 2 wires came together and are meant to be connected with each other.
But I can't seem to connect them properly I think at least.

This probably sounds really stupid but please help me I'm not a handyman or electrician but I don't think I should have to hire an electrician to connect 2 wires like this :lol:

Here is pic of how I was able to connect them:

Well, the picture shows them connected together properly, they just push together.

Usually, the end in the bottom picture is on an extension cable or peripheral equipment cable and the end with slotted holes (so you can't touch the wires inside them) is the end plugged into your wall socket.
