Measuring a Regulator

How do i component check a rectifier?

What are some basic rectifier tests i can do ?
to see if its working right with different loads?

Line regulation and load regulation test?

What basic Oscilloscope waveform checks do you know for checking or testing
a regulator?

Re: Measuring a Regulator

Apply sinewave (e.g. frm signal/waveform generator) to the rectifier. Check the output of the rectifier using osciloscope.

What should i be looking for on the oscilloscope?

Re: Measuring a Regulator

if the sine wave rectified, it's mean your rectifier component works well

Re: Measuring a Regulator

I usually use a rectangular to test my regulator.

I connect two 2*RL onto the regulator's output,

a 2*RL is connect to ground directly. the other

2*RL is connected to ground by a POWER MOSFER,

then I drive the mosfet with a 100hz rectangular

and watch the wave of output with a oscilloscope.

best regards

Measuring a Regulator

Line regulation: Vary the input voltage according to your specification and monitor the output voltage. It must be between its regulation range (specification), for example +- 2%.

Load regulation: Vary the load from 0 A to the maximum load specified. (also from specification). The output must be between the range of regulation.
