Hello guys,
I am currently design a 18V BLDC drive for lion battery drill machine, I am using IR2101s(12V supply) as the bootstrap driver for high&low side NMOSFETS.
And I've tried the 40V NMOS from fairchild(FDD8447L), it shorted immediately. The I tried AUIRFR1010Z (55V) and it works.
Is there a formula to choose the VDS break down voltage for MOSFET?
And I searched the forum someone says the VDS should be 1.5 to 2 times the highest voltage in the circuit. in my case (18V+12V)*(1.5~2)=45V~60V ?
It sounds reasonable! it seems.
In the attachment you will find the circuit.View attachment sheet1.pdf
