A 68 microFarad is required to store a charge of 160 microCoulumb. What voltage should be applied to the capacitor?

Use the equation: Q = C * V

So, V = Q / C = (160 * 10 ^ (-6)) / (68 * 10 ^ (-6)) V

You can work out the voltage as above. I'm sure you can calculate the final answer.

Hope this helps.
Tahmid.

Thanks, but the 3 answers given are 200 V, 300 V and 500 V. I am confused with the answer given

the tahmid's formula is true. please write your exact question so we can help you?

Thanks again for guiding me, the question is
1. A 68 microFarad is required to store a charge of 160 microCoulumb. What voltage should be applied to the capacitor?
a. 200 V
b. 300 V
c. 500 V
May be if i want to go for the closest answer, should i go for 200 V or 300 V..?

None of the values is "close". Looks like the question is flawed.

Thanks guys for the help.. As you all said, it seems the answers are wrong.

p.mahen,
Calculating as per Q=CV will yeilds us,
V=2.353V(C/F)

Thanks,:smile:
