How can we compute the One port S-Parameters ?
I want to compute S-parameters for one port means, if we take a resistor in series with one end grounded and other terminated
with 50 Ohm. Kindly help me.

Regards,
Naveel

Hello

With only one port,you will be able to find only one value which is s11(reflection coefficient) which is the ratio of power reflected to total power. can you post your circuit?

And there is no source?

There is a source like any arbitrary value of voltage and current. Basically i am doing this in ADS, So we do not have to
give the source if we are using S-PARAM. But the problem is i have to calculate it numerically.

Naveel

The S11 parameter can be calculated as:

S11 = (Z - Zo)/(Z + Zo)

where Z is the impedance of the load and Zo the impedance of the source.

In you case the source, represented in ADS by the block "TERM "is Zo = 50 ohm, while the load is Z = 3.25 ohm then

S11 = (3.25 - 50)/(3.25 + 50) = 0.878

However in general S-parameter are frequency-dependent complex numbers since almost always Z is not a pure resistance.
