How learning AVR and PIC is superior to learning 8051?

8051 :-? AVR :-? PIC

hi,
i am familiar with 8051 uC.But i see everyone here is learning AVR or PIC.Whats there in them that isnt there in 8051 that is making them to opt for that?Do i really need to learn AVR or PIC????

Hi,
AVR microcontrollers are newer family of microcontrollers introduced by ATMEL, their advantages over traditional MCS51 family are : more speed, more internal SRAM, internal E2PROM, ISP capability, more peripherals like multiplexed ADCs, analog comparator, PWM , RTC and so on. But I prefer MCS51 family because they are very easy to develope and powerful IDE tools like Keil uVision support this family.
