How do I find a suitable equivalent(Ferroxcube)?

Hi all

If a circuit (In this case a Switched moded supply) calls for an E-core that I cannot get in my country (Amidon), how do I find a suitable equivalent(Ferroxcube)? The core is not gapped, so I guess if the equivalent is not right I could saturate the core?

Which core values on the datasheets should match or be close to matching or is there a formula to follow?

Hi! You´ll have to search for a few specs. Size, AL (inductance for 1 turn), Bmáx, losses against frequency are the most important and should match the original core.

Hi,

I suggest you salvage an E-core from an old computer SMPSU.
I think they will meet the requirement for what you need.
