How can I find the algorithm of a technology of an EDA tool?

such as CTS technology of astro,placement technology of physical compiler……and so on.
I'd like to kown some theory about these technologies,and I think it'll help me in my practical work.

Lot of these tools have emerged based on various IEEE papers in IEEE CAD etc. A good book would be: CAD for Physical/VLSI designs by Naveed Sherwani (Title may not be accurate), it has enormous number of references to papers etc. Take this book, and visit a close by library.

A good introductory book is :

Vlsi Physical Design Automation: Theory and Practice

by Sadiq M Sait, Habib Youssef

Here are two buss words:
DME based CTS.
conjugate gradient placement.

Most of these algorithms are in computer science,
Algorithms. something like divide and conquer, tree
data structure, etc, you can refer to these materials.
some papers you can find in VLSI and CAD. I know
there are some periodicals in National Lib, CN
try nlc.gov.cn to look up

But when I get those algorithms,how do I know that which one is used in the astro(or other EDA tools),and maybe tools would change version?
What I concern is how to use EDA tools perfectly,so I'd like to learn the algorithm of the technology,and hope to get the direction.

EDA companies wont tell which algorithm they have used in their tool. If u start learning the EDA tool algorithm to just use the tool. It might take 1000 years for you to design a chip. Better to use the tool manual for that, and if u get into problems with the tool contact EDA support to fix it.
