IP address?

It doesn't. You have to assign one to it. An IP is usually a group of 4 numbers like 10.0.0.9. It is completely up to you to decide which address a device will get. Then you configure your switch or router to handle the routing.

IP address?

Many internet devices can be manually configured as ck84 suggested, however most modern devices default to requesting an IP address (and other configuration info) from your network's DHCP server.

In a typical home or small office network, the broadband interface box (such as a cable modem or DSL modem) usually provides a DHCP server to your local network.
