lcd pin 46

I have an original HITACHI make 40 character LCD module with four HD44102CH and one HDBLD44103 ICs on it. It has 20-pin flat cable. I don't know the pinout of this cable. The only thing I figured out is it has two pins (1 & 2) shorted together which goes only to the metal frame of the display and no-where else on the PCB.
Dots on the display are arranged in groups of 5x18 or 5x17 (I couldn't count it properly) and there are 40 such groups.

Has anyone used it before? A sample 8051/any uC code will also be helpful.

Thanks.

Thanks for replying. But that company doesn't manufacture 40x1 LCD modules.
