high tech C

hi all,

I am all new to PICs.

I downloaded Mplab ide along with high tech C complier and set up everything correctly.

my problem is how come i could not find any HEX. files

after compling any example .c programmes

all i got were .pl and .pre files

my other question is that

can I use any other c complier with mplab ide?

Thank you very much

if ur compilation is successful,definitely there will be an Hex File... but the extension will not be visible unless you
uncheck Hide extension for Known file types
in
Tools->folder options->view tab

MPLAB can be integrated with variant third party compilers.. like CCS,MCC18,Hi-Tech .....so on...

CCS and Hi-Tech(PICC and PICC18) can be used for both PIC16 and PIC18 series controllers.. whereas MCC18 from microchip can be used only for PIC18 series
