I have 16 bit parallel data on a port at around 20-30MHz, I need to transmit this over a cable serially up to around 100m. I was hoping to use some sort of off the shelf cabling, such as CAT5 to save on installation costs.

Any ideas on the simplest way to do this?

Thanks

what about using 1Ghz Ethernet?

Would I have to implement a stack in firmware though? Or can I literally connect data lines up and it will send what's clocked?

Do you know of an application note or similar as a starting point?

Thanks
