hfss helix

I need to simulate an spiral helical antenna to determine its FF pattern.

I modelled the helix in HFSS surrounded by a cylinder of vacuum of few wavelenghts in lenght and less than a wavelenght in radius, but when I try to simulate the meshgride generated automatically becomes huge and simulation crashes for out of memory. Actually, the computation does not start and stop at the first step.

How can I reduce the number of thetraedra? I tried with model resolution and mesh operation but the initial mesh is essentially the same.

Further, it sounds very strange that it is necessary a so huge number of elements to model the helix antenna in free space. Does anybody knows how to perform the simulation in an accurate way and with a computational burden that is affordable?

Attached there is the model file.

Thanks in advance.

Bye.

Look like a DNA double-helix structure. The problem is you used a infinitely thin , continuously bending face. It will make trouble for meshing.

Better to use an object model. Rsing up in the same way.
