I want to solve for the cavity resonances are in a housing using HFSS. I setup the Eigenmode solver and ran the simulation.
The solution data shows tabular frequencies for each mode. What other information should I get from this simulation that would be useful? Are there any plots I should create?
If your cavity is bounded by discrete edges (e.g., it's a metal box), then the eigenmode solver will get you the resonant frequencies of each mode. Assuming you have a single design, that should be all of the information you need in terms of cavity resonances.
The magnitude of the fields at these frequencies will depend on how they are being excited. In order to model this, you need to switch to a driven modal simulation and excite fields however you think is most realistic. The simulation result will be the steady state-fields, from which you can extract the field magnitudes.
