In an attempt to create a solid trapezoidal structure, I have created a one rectangle at Z=0 plane and another one at Z=1mm. I used connect surface option to combine the 2 rectangles to form the trapezoidal structure. Then assigned the material as dielectric. In this case, what will be the material inside the structure :dielectric or air?
hi.
I think that it is ''air'', because if you want to get a dielectric inside you have to use ''Draw a box '' of 1mm hieght and assign it to the wanted material, then try to cut off the the sides so that it form a trapezoidal structure.
well only proposition...
Ok, I got this from hfss_onlinehelp.pdf: "Connect two or more 2D sheet objects. HFSS will modify the first 2D object you select to be a
3D solid object that connects to the second and any subsequently selected objects. The second and subsequent objects selected are deleted."
HFSS user guide says: "Connect – connect 2D primitives. Use Cover Surfaces to turn the connected object into a solid"

zirif you are wrong. Please verify answers before posting.
The material will be whatever you assign it to so it would be the dielectric. after the connect operation the object is treated as a solid. In the history tree it will be listed under the heading of the material it is assigned.
