I was curious about your question and asked one of the Ansoft AE's about it. His response was that they do not currently do not support Vista but that you could probably run Vista in XP computability mode anyway. He was not aware of anything that would cause damage to the Vista OS in HFSS.
Just a comment. I do not have any direct experience here and plan to continue with 64 bit XP Pro.
1. right click setup.exe
2. select Properties
3. select Compatibility folder
4. check Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2
5. click OK
6. double click setup.exe
Hi all !
I just remembered that actually license file may also be a problem. but i think problem might b with setup of hfss 11... I have installed libraries well but the problem i m getting is with HFSS 11. Kindly tell me from where u got the HFSS 11?? or can anyone upload that....
I also facing the same problem..i am using vista ( home premium).I had the solution before by changing the compatibilty but the problem stil there. any others solution for this?
For installing HFSS in Windows Vista open a command control, open the setup folder and type:
setup.exe /z ignore_os
Compatiblity is not officially assured by Ansoft, I had a small crash once but other than that never any real problem. Graphics are sometimes a bit weird, for me sometimes it didn't show the main part of the window with the geometry and so on, it turned a bit black or so, but when you like click or zoom or pan, it rebuilds.
I think that's better than not using it at all.
I've succesfully installed HFSS 11 on my pc with windows vista business edition. Just turn off the UAC - user account control and restart your pc before installing HFSS. Then turn it on when installation is complete and restart your pc again.
Anyway I've encountered several HFSS crashes during my work ad graphics are sometimes a bit weird.
Ansoft HFSS 11 does not support Vista yet. Take a look at the link, and note, that for HFSS 11, vista is classified as limited. Meaning that it is not compatible with vista, yet. It may work, but with problems. My suggestion is to downgrade or dual-boot windows xp pro.
