Hi,

Currently I am looking for a wideband TX/RX antenna, from 1 to 6 Ghz and I wonder that anyone can help with some input or material to start from. The physical dimensions should small so that portable operation is possible

Thanks in advance,

Tony

scale it to your freq.

one of the best options is LPDA (Log Periodic Dipole Antenna) and you can find design equations in any basic antenna book(such as antennas by Balanis).
it's very simple to design and simple to analysis, but
it's gain is limited (the maximum gain is around 11dB).

Thanks for the replies,

The antenna described in the paper looks very attractive however the usable bandwidth is not enough to cover the wanted band, If i'm not wrong this antenna can be scaled to run from 1 to 2.45 Ghz (84 %) or for example 2.45 to 6 GHz (84 %). It looks interesting because I have to integrate 4 antennas in a small volume on a portable handset.
