how can dct can be derived from dft

Hi all,

I am brand new to DSP and I want to learn it as one of my interests.

I am poor in mathematics and calculus..!!

I was trying to understand the backbone concpets of DSP like
Discrete Cosine Transform and Discrete Fourier Transform.

Can anyone suggest how to get a better understanding of these DCT/DFT concepts...!!

Thanks

Hi
If u are familiar with CFT, u should learn the following sunjects (in order):
DTFT
DFS
DFT
DCT
and how?
the way that i learned was : reading the selected chapters of :
"Discrete time signal processing" by Oppenheim. (chapters : 2 - 8 - 9)
u can read any other DSP books.
bye

hi,
Im uploading a pdf which explains in very simple terms what is the Difference
between DCT and DFT, how DCT is derived from DFT and many other elementary
things one needs to know about the two transforms. Im sure it would make for
a good read.

We usually view a signal in the time domain but we don't get any information about its frequency components. So we need to view it in the spectral domain, so both of these transforms give a basis for representing/finding/viewing of the frequency components of the signal.

i sugest u to see digital signal processing by

Hi ,

I am working on DCT .. u can ask me any doubts regarding that.. I am into implementation of DCT on hardware
