does anybody use hsim to simulate jitter of pll?
with hsim, i can get peak to peak jitter and RMS jitter using .measure.
some said i can't get jitter with just transient simulation.
so i wonder where does this jitter come from? is it from flicker noise of the mosfets? does these peak to peak jitter and RMS jitter make sence?

Thanks alot

In your transient simulation, no thermal noise or flicker noise is included in your simulation. Some famous company can do transient thermal noise analysis using its own tools

but if no thermal noise or flicker noise, where's jitter from?

Dear umount :

When you simulate pll, the jitter may occur these conditions :

1.VCO Gain too big(voltage of VCO can't ideal stable, it has a little ripple)
2.PFD dead zone
3.If you charge pump type pll, & c of filter is not big enouge, leage current
will effect voltage of VCO .

I want to know in what simulatin type can Jitter caused by thermal noise be simulatied?
Regards.

ADiT is a tool that claims to be able to do jitter measurement from trans results.

Dear mpig09:

Could you explain the third point? Where is the 'leage' current from?
